That sucks. :(  I haven't heard of the 2 week limitation before, but then I have only bought PODs from Lulu.

I am sure you will get some sales, so keep your spirits up. :)

I would order it if I could.  But living off of my Army disability, anything we buy like this has to come out of the food budget and we only spend $100 USD per month on food, so $25 is a big chunk of the food budget for us.  About the only time I have money to spend is at Christmas and my birthday or wifey's birthday.

If anything, Apple has proven people are willing to pay almost anything just so they will not have to deal with Microsoft anymore.  IMHO, that is something you simply cannot put a price on.

With the EURO down, is that about 10-11USD?
No, it is about $18 USD.  Since it is being priced in Euros, it may be with some foreign POD company where you are going to have some hefty shipping charges to get it shipped overseas, not to mention whatever customs tacks on if they choose to hit it.

From a developer's perspective its quite a turn off, especially if you're running on a tight to low budget.
For a developer, the price should not be an issue as it would be a legitimate business expense (hence a tax deductible business expense) in many countries.

ou are trying to use the autoupdater to do an upgrade.  The updater is only for updates.  Upgrades must be downloaded and installed manually.

The chm manual you get in the editor is a copy of the online version. I create that with every update.
I know and that is why I do not get the kid who is whining that it sucks and is missing half the commands that the online version has ;/

QuoteThis is the advantage to a web-based manual - especailly the Wikki, where any one of us can update it and one could presumably print out the whole thing or only pages which have changed.
I am not a fan of online manuals, mainly because dev machine does not (and never will) have an online connection.

QuotePersonally, I'd have thought making an editor in GLBasic would be amusing
A text editor was one of the very first things I wrote with GLB many, many years ago.  IIRC, I had the source on my old GLB tutorial site.

The other problem with manuals (other than the price) is that they get outdated, especially with Gernot around. Bugs are quashed quite quickly and commands are introduced, or altered to fit the need of the user. What might be accurate in print today, may not be when GLB has a new update.
MrTAToad should write each book by hand with a pencil.  This way anytime something changes the person who buys the book can simply erase the outdated info and write in the new info.  A few blank pages would give a place for users to write in info for new commands  =D

Will people buy it ?

I already have the manual printed, so I would not be interested.  I likely wouldn't be able to afford it anyway.

The help file, for example, does not have LEFT or RIGHT commands listed.

And so more commands are missing.

Anything else?

I am sorry that you find GLB too advanced for your needs.

I guess I am lucky, I have never found any issues with GLB's help file.

Cameron:  I think you might be confusing Macs with iPhones.  I could be wrong, but I think you can compile OS X games with GLBasic and distribute them with zero problems without the need of actually owning a Mac or needing a Mac to compile on.

Developing for the iPhone is another story, but only because you are wanting Apple to invest their time and money in you and your product and publish your app.  All publishers (regardless of the platform) have strict requirements on what they will publish and guidelines on how things have to be done if you want to work with that publisher.

Actually I was thinking of hiring someone of the GLBasic community to port it for me to save time and effort but I am not sure if I can get a good deal, anyone?! ;)

I would give you a good deal and with the way my medical bills are piling up, I could really use the money.  Unfortunately, I would not be right for the job, as I am not familiar with the iPhone and do not have a Mac, so I can't compile iPhone versions.

GLBasic is a good choice though, and I am sure you will be happy with it.
