DIGITAL PHOTO FRAME for WebOS

Png support was removed? Do you mean it now slips png files completely? Why? How come it only showed them as a blank screen?

Essentially though anything that cannot load shouldn't show a black screen for a few seconds.

And make the help screen more obvious! If I was you I would just have 3 big icons (FB, camera, and photo) and a massive sign saying click one for more info. Then when they click the icon it shows info on how to use it to show photos. Your current help screen is just too packed with info and easy to ignore

This HP guy is driving me crazy...

HP:
QuoteSorry for the delay. The issue is still there. If the suer touches the screen at any point the application closes.

ME:
QuoteIt is not an error! Its that way!

The app try to find .jpg files in root:/photos (internal/media/photos/). If no photos are found, it displays a screen with instructions for copying files. When the user touches the screen, the app closes (you dont have photos to be displayed anyway!)

HP:
QuoteI do have pictures on mine, but the issue is that it does this when the app is finding the pictures. So if the app is looking for pictures and the user touches the screen the app closes.

Adam

Crivens, png images are ignored and removed from the display list. I dont know what are this black images for you. I have this app running all the day with 3000 with nothing strange...

I plan to add more icons, and sure I will change the help screen saying "you have no photos", add buttons to add folders and more.

Hmm, strange then. Just have about 7 pics. 3 are jpg and 4 are png. Half the time it shows the jpgs fine, but the rest of the time it sits there (for about the same amount of time as a jpg) with nothing but a black screen. Are you making sure that the list it builds checks for upper and lower case PNG extension?

Seriously though add in the "stock" images so it never thinks there are no images, or at least not kick them out if there are no images. Yeah, we all know that makes the most sense but we are talking QA people here. One less brain cell and it's Burger King drive through at best. How about a screen saver type animation if no images are found?

The free version should display a demo screen every now and them... perhaps it is failing to load this...

Will check it.

I get the black screens occasionally too, even with only .JPEG files. Admittedly, there's only about 5 photos in there, but the black screens are annoying.
I came. I saw. I played.

ampos

Upgrade to full version to get rid of the black screen! :D

It should be the intro screen, but i dont know why it is not loading. Will check later.

The intro screen? But I get that and then it says it has found my photos, then it goes to show them. It's at this point that every now and again I get a black screen for a few seconds.

New version:

http://www.diniplay.com/misc/com.diniplay.photoframefree_1.12.3_all.ipk

It should create /photos dir if it does not exist.

Also, if no photos are found, it should work with 2 "demo" pictures

Please, check without the /photo dir first to see it in action when no-photos-found (notice it could still find facebook photos).

Only jpg files are shown.

I apreciate greatly your help.  :nw:

Yep, that does exactly what I think it should; it creates the directory and displays in-built images if you have no photos of your own.

Perfect :)

Dan has replied me "oh, you said it only loaded 4000x4000 pixels or less! that's was my problem!"

I said it him TWICE, and it is also written in the app description...

I should check if loadspritemem is capable of loading images bigger than 4000x4000 or it is the jpg library the "bad guys"...

Confirmed:  HP reviewers; they are all stupid.
I came. I saw. I played.

Ruidesco

Heh, leave it to a reviewer to not know what to do.

Although, in terms of usability, you should make a routine that reads the header of JPGs to look for their dimensions before loading, showing an error message on screen in case they exceed the maximum.

Kitty Hello

read the jpeg file with LOADSPRITEMEM, then see the size and drop big images yourself - or resize the memory and call MEM2SPRITE.
