Title: Android/iOS export in free version
Post by: Leon on 2016-Jan-09
Hello,
I wanted to ask if it is possible to publish games made with the free version of GLBasic for Android and iOS. As a pupil I can't afford the full version of GLBasic at the moment and rewriting everything in another Engine would be very time consuming. Thanks in advance for any help.  :)

Personly, no not yet, even im have glbasic source code as a user (its mostly me that fix various Android and iOS versions really and give them back again), im cannot remove any license from the source code, without permission from Gernot.

Its was only removed temporary internally when im ported it to 64bit iOS, and reenabled it again when the license worked again.

Sorry that I didn't replay earlier, I just didn't think I would get any more answers :(
But thank you anyway. So it isn't possible? So far I haven't made a video demo of my games.

Publishing for IOS and Android is a bit more complex then PC.
You will need a MAC for final output to Ios, probably an iphone or an ipad for testing and on android, you will need an android phone for testing.
All of those cost a lot of money, you will also need to pay apple or google or both for a Dev account.

All in all, GLB´s price at around $100 dollars is quite a grab.
If you can´t afford it , then truly, how are you going to afford the rest?

Maybe starting up with pc/mac/linux for your games is a better run. :good:

Well, I have a friend who owns a Mac and I can test on a smartphone. This wouldn't be a big thing. Testing on various PCs (and operating would cost much more money ;)
(But of course I understand what you mean :) )
The problem with GLBasic is: I don't think my parents would ever allow me to buy it (even if I could afford it right now) and the website doesn't look very reliable. Of course I know how good the software is but that doesn't change the situation unfortunately. Actually, I believe the core problem of why GLBasic isn't as popular as Corona SDK is, that its website isn't really up-to-date and doesn't have a professional look. Of course this is not intended to be mean but constructive criticism :)

Yep Leon, I agree the site has been long due on an update towards today´s standard.

I currently test my mac output on friend´s macs too and I own an android phone for that side, IOs is a harder call.
Back in the days, I could not afford GLB either, so I started using the demo version to get the hangs of it, then I jumped into a student version.

After a while, as I decided to own it, I still didn´t have the money (currency exchange reasons). So what I did was that I worked doing graphics for a pinball game for a board member here to raise the cash. It worked out fine. So maybe there is a way you can raise your own cash if you feel that is the right way to go. :good:

Hmmm, but you have no game log and test users. The whole point of the demo version is to make games and require others to use it. Anyhow, why has this thread turned non-technical?

Non registered  will close the app in about 5 minutes. I'm personally don't remove that registration.

You can still test it of course, but you so cannot release it on stores.
