GLB and Android (Google Force SDK Upgrades)

Hi Gernot,

Just wanted to ask if GLB in theory is capable of working with the newer APIs for Android?

From Aug 2018 onwards Google requires minimum target API level that 5 levels below the current release (API-28 today).
So if nothing changes then API-23 is the minimum until the next release.

Do you think that is going to be okay or will this near future update ruin Android app building on GLB?

I'm sure other frameworks are facing the same issues with this new Android requirement.

Im have finally checked about it..... Look like its will take various time to get it updated, due various other forced measures. Like.... Android Studios is required now.

The main issue is..... Android Studio is Forced to get update and upgrade now, EVEN the SDK Manager is now GONE, which is IMPORTANT to get updates. Crap, Crap.

That force us out.

Im have no plan or time to do a big move like that. Sorry.

But its should been possible to do that throught in same maner with xCode project and compile the rest in Android Studio aftre building up the project.

Currectly iOS11 is also still not working. Im do here DOES have some xCode project working with iOS11 before im stoppede that last year, and im still waiting a permission to release anything im have to those projects. Source Code did compile fine to iOS11, even its still based on Glbasic 14 (better than nothing).

Yes im started finally a new game, but Windows only (mightbeen a Mac too), but no mobile. Its too painfull today and no more fun to do.

I suppose compiling the project in Android Studio isn't too bad a solution for me.
So it would involve copying project src, assets, libs to an Android Studio project and re-compiling?

its will take some time to move the project and im was have some personal issues last year, which why im gave up quite easy and not know what im wanted, but do your require to use the glbasic source code to do that. The single C++ file should howoer do work. The included compiles will NOT work with it. Its similar to iOS really as the main issue now.

Howover while Android Studio will take various gb to download (which require a least a SDK and a NDK), then the Glbasic Android project would been then much smaller in the other end.

Its will been required now for support Android with glbasic in the future. Im just wont do that right now.

But its possible to do, when you can do that with xcode and have the glbasic source code. Same should been possible here.

That would been a other end would been a much much smaller Android projects for the platform, since all downloads is from Google (SDK, JDK, NDK and more) instead.

Im diddent do that last year, when im got uninpirated. But im did warn last year about Android Studio.

Not sure if this helps but yoyo games have instructions for working with Android Studio (and without it) and installed up to Nougat (API-25)

Maybe there are other GLB limitations to consider...I wouldn't know.

but im will property take a look after im have released the PowerUp Elevation to Steam, then im take a Android Studio Look. its will being about a 2-3gb download (Xcode was more here). Hovover the first version with Android Studio will not use Google SDK at all. Its more important to get the basic glbasic working first.

That meant im might went back to Android and iOS, but focus is still on Steam and Windows. But we do still have this summer to port it to Android Studio, and im dont thinks its really that hard, but im do require to use the glbasic source code to use it, and/or hope the libs used still can been compiled as they are.

Same with iOS. Im are happy to share the glbasic source code compiler project, but im waiting from Gernot to get the permission. Howover its till using the glbasic v14 source code by now, but that is much better than nothing. Im remember its DID compile with iOS11 without trouble, before im stoppede last year. So its just more to recompile it again.
