HDD crash.

My MFT is corrupt. Backup is from september 2011. And I have no idea if it will extract.
Right now I try to recover with photorec on a live cd but it seems all filemames are lost. And directory structure.
All compilers might be broken. I'm close to tears.

Edit:
I was asked to add this info on recovering deleted files.

I came. I saw. I played.

Thats a shame - hope you can get it all recovered!  Might need to call in the services of a specialist data recovery company...

Not nice when that happens, I am surprised though that your existing backup was so old & on the same hard drive seeing as it is a commercial product. I made the same error quite a few years back & cost me a lot, only good thing that came out of it for me was my change of "It won't happen to me" attitude to "This regular backup regime is not bad really" attitude.

I would be tempted to try R-Studio http://www.data-recovery-software.net/. There is a free download available which will only recover files upto 64kb but at least it will give you an idea of what could be recovered with the full version.

I have used it in the past & had very good results from it.

Damn. Hope it's not end glbasic, hope you can recover it.

I have used r-studio In the past with good result, same with http://www.file-recovery.net/

Both commercial but nice prices.

For both chases, don't try cover to same hard drive.....

If data can't be recovered, might take the opportunity to re-write everything...

... or use GLBScript as standard compiler and extend it for the "old" targets :P

Hope you will recover your data :(. Maybe you will use in future SVN/Git so your data is safe and secure on a server?

You could try with some Acronis tools.

I used a recovery bootable CD of Acronis True Image (last possible version) for this kind of fails on servers.

First with Acronis True Image (Home version also works) I did a back up of only the needed files... sometimes only works for only one file or folder each time you click to copy an element... sometimes work for the full hard drive. It depends of the corrupton level of the hard disk.
After the backup, you have to extract the files from it again.

Other times, only worked to use a MS-DOS terminal with a Windows Live CD and write:
chkdsk DISK: /r

You can try also with a Knoppix live CD (Debian LINUX)

Also some of this tools could work:

I hope you have good luck. Sincerely.

I hope you can recover enough of the essential data.    :noggin:

I've read the other comments, and the only thing I can suggest for the future is use 'Dropbox'.
That's all we use to make sure our data is backed up.
I love the way it works behind the scenes and acts like a regular folder.  Simple.

Well . . . good luck with the data recovery.

Terribly sorry to hear that Gernot, I take it you have no drive backups or you would say.
i have recovered drives in the past by swapping the drive board with another from the same model but I dont think this would work here. Your best bet is a low level data recovery util.
