QuoteMTF corruption is a software failure, not hardware

Thats why you dont stick it in a freezer!  Even if it was a hardware problem, you still wouldn't stick it in a freezer either :)

Apparently you wouldn't download a car either. However, some have tried it (and report success).

Downloaded a car successfully?   =D

Seriously though, the harddrive in a freezer trick has worked for me before. I'm not saying it will for everyone, but one time it helped me immeasurably.

But in this case it seems Gernot's problem is software and not hardware related.

Gernot,
hope you have a good nite of sleep to take a bit of the stress away, a rested mind works better.
I´m really sorry for what happened and wish I could help things out somehow.
be well. <3

I would use DriveImage to create a dupe of the disk before any writing is done back onto the disk to attempt a recovery.
Cheers,

Ian.

Thats a realy sad news friend!

The recovery software can find some files. Lots. But not the 10 files I really need so far. Takes ages, but it might work. Worst case would be a loss of 3 months work.

And yes, I'll backup every weekend now. Even to my ftp server.

dropbox and such is all you need. But nice to hear you got most your files back, so its "only" 3 month and not 15 month. still sad, howover. I hope you find the last 10 files, even one of the backups on that harddrive.

The ´panorama´ looks better then I thought, ufa!

I once got into a fight with people for demanding 2 backups in one movie project.
Few months later the current work disks + the first backup went dead... the 2nd one saved the day.

Even so, I guess to this day I tend to forget it, like Sokurah said.
Had all my stuff in a single HDD till yesterday, when this whole stuff got me alarmed.

Hi Gernot! Hope you'll manage to get them all back. When it comes to crucial data, we can never be too paranoid. Personally, I maintain redundancies on external drives, DVDs, and now even on cloud storage. Before DropBox, I used to e-mail the latest zipped source and resource files to myself at the end of every work day. It's not the commercial value, but my precious time and effort.

Good Luck! And please keep us posted.

I feel your pain!
I learnt a very harsh lesson about that a few years ago, then forgot the lesson and learnt it again about a year ago.

Hope it gets sorted, there is nothing worse.

Testdisk schonmal ausprobiert?
