Title: Nokia N900
Post by: stuurman on 2010-Jan-11
The operatingsystem of the nokia n900 is linux.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to run GL basic programs on this machine.
Or are there any plans to make GLbasic suitable?

I'am looking for an easy programming language for a mobilephone.
Windows mobile is an absolute no no for me.
Iphone is not availble on the network of my provider.
GLbasic for android is impossible from what i understand
Apparently GLbasic for symbian is not possible.

If the output is suitable for the iphone, gp2x, wizz and in the near future for the pandora, then in theory glbasic could be adapted for the nokia n900.

Anybody any ideas on this?

The N900 runs on the ARM Cortex A8 processor and has OpenGL ES 2.0 ... so does the Pandora. I believe if the Pandora can be targetted using GLBasic then it should be technically possible to run the application on the N900 ...

Maemo is basically just a linux distro for ARM platforms.

And ARM architecture is surely coming on strong, many manufactures are going to offer "smartbooks" this year.
Smartbook = netbook running on ARM CPU  + Linux or Android OS, much thinner than Atom netbooks and with up to 10hr battery life.

I'm kind of excited we're again getting worthy competitor to the x86 platform...
Even Pandora is supposedly few months from release! Again!  :P

I am confident that Pandora will be released before May. I'm not sure which year, but it will be out before May :P
