Heheh, that is spookly similar to an idea I had a while back. Damn, must start doing these projects...

Nice drawing BTW :)

Very nice idea! Do it! :)

GLOBAL WORMS would probably cough up more attention as a name hehe

I think it's a great idea but careful design would need to be taken to get the action clearly displayed on smaller screens. I would zoom in during the selection/aiming stage while zoom out for the mayhem.

The only problem I can foresee with a game like this (other than the WORMS name (I'd call it Worms World BTW)) is that Worms is at its most fun as a close-quarters game - when it comes to flying projectiles (grenades and missiles) it becomes very random and quite tedious - play Worms Forts in Worms Armageddon to see this.

Also worms are obviously very much smaller than the world that they inhabit, so zooming in and out would be necessary - and potentially annoying.

I really like the idea, but I fear the execution of such an idea wouldn't live up to the expectation. But I would really love to have the opportunity to play this game.
I came. I saw. I played.

Would be good on a Tablet  ;)

Kitty Hello

the zooming could be done as on PSone version. Instead of scroll, I'd rotate the playfield, and make the viewport like:

When you shoot projectiles, I'd draw the whole flight path to 80% before the impact. That way aiming is much better and you still have some sort of inaccuracy.
Just an idea... I don't think I have time to really make it.

Shame :(

So, who'll take up the gauntlet?
I came. I saw. I played.

I like a game where you don't care which way is up.

Would the play surface be just a circle/sphere/one center "planet"?
In the case of a "galaxy", something like solar systems, planet hopping and swapping gravity centers sounds sensible.

How about these game display environment techniques for design inspiration?

So....are you collecting emails from companies?  Hasbro and team17  :nana:

IMHO I wouldn't worry too much about copyright problems, Worms is basically a rip off of PD artillery games that go all the way back to the 70's (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artillery_game).

Ian.
