Looks cool, there also was this old SNES and playstation 1 game called Umihara Kawase, which had pretty realistic rope physics for its time. There are some videos on youtube, might be worth checking out for inspiration. Anyway good luck with development. :)

About the virtual buttons on screen. Can you also control it with the tilt control? Maybe you make it so that tilting left/right controls the left/right walking, and to shoot a rope the player touches the screen and then tilt left/right to aim, release touch to fire the rope.

Another quality looking game. Totally reminds me of Bionic Commando. I was thinking a while back of doing something like this (but with a sheep - don't ask I'm Welsh) and using tilting so you could swing him properly. Would be quite cool if done well.
