DEBUG with Linux

DEBUG on Linux no longer seems to be available - you used to be able to use DEBUG to write to a console, if the program was started from there, but nothing happens now...  You get the usual Initialisation text, but nothing after that is displayed in the console.

This is in Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10, by the way.

Trying to find out where my test program abnormally terminates and without that it'll be rather hard...

Kitty Hello

really? DEBUG is always removed for release builds.
Try STDOUT, please.
