Title: HP Touchpad screen orientation problems
Post by: tagoror on 2011-Oct-13
Hello,

We have a problem with the screen orientation on HP Touchpad. Our resolution game is 768x1024 but TouchPad don't handle this screen size. The native screen size is 1024x768. The solution is rotate manually the screen to work in portrait mode. How can we do this? At this moment
our game doesn't fit well the Touchpad screen ...

Our game is in 2D and the compilation was created with GLBasic 10.0.57.

Maybe GLBasic doesn't support directly the HP Touchpad.

For now the game is available for Palm Pre, Palm Pixi, HP Veer, Palm Pre2, HP Pre3.

Upgrade GLB. Gernot has done some Touchpad specific screen orientation code in the last few days. Until about a week ago all portrait TP apps would start upside down for instance.

Mine portrait app still starts upside down on the Touchpad, is there a trick to fix this?

Use
Code (glbasic) Select
SETORIENTATION 3

That fixed it last time I used it. :)

Ang on. I thought upside down portrait was fixed now? At least it was before I went on holiday. Has the latest update bust it?

Not tested it for a while, so don't know. Maybe AlienMenace isn't upto date?

I definitely have my game working the right way up on my TP without using setorientation. Think was fixed a couple of weeks ago.

I am up-to-date 10.179. My app starts upside down, what can I say? The power button is on the top, right?

Mine starts fine with 10.179... erm....

I have found another error though which I will post separately...

I think setorientation is for landscape mode. So, how do you define "up" there?
portrait should be button at the bottom. For landscale I like the button to the right.

Yep, that's how I like it too.

TP landscape is as you said. TouchStone and covers said so too.

If the top in Portrait mode is the edge with the power button and the home button is on the bottom then my app is indeed starting upside down in portrait mode.

Is it in WebOS or are you booting it into Android? I only ask because my game is fine on my TP but upside down on my cheapo Chinese android tablet (but then do are a few apps)

With our last game we had a few problems with the orientation. Finally, after upgrade to the latest version of GLB, the game appears to run fine, though upside down (camera is on the bottom).

This little issue delayed the validation process about 2 weeks, but finally HP approved it.

This only happen with the HP Touchpad. Probably there are a bug in GLB related with this.

My TP is fine but my cheap Chinese android tablet is now defaulting to landscape rather than portrait. It was fine (but upside down) a few weeks ago
