When I was young, there was a battle between the demomakers (pirates?): Bladerunners and Replicants.
I make a small passage in the past to finally say the truth: Replicants were the best!

Reminds me of redsector demomaker on the amiga.
...and ye, Replicants are better! ;)

edit: Not pirates but artists.  :P

Demo from Replicants looks better.
Interesting is that many demos like this were even made after 2000, thanks to internet, people could easily share some programming tricks for particular hardware.
And those 16-bit systems (Atari, Amiga) have some really incredible demos. :)
Check my source code editor for GLBasic - link Update: 20.04.2020

I had an ST back in the day, many a game never got past the intro for a very long time, the chip-tunes were that good!

That's some nice music those Replicants.

I am happy to share the same good memories as you.
And you're right the sound is really good.

The old computers are coming back as emulators now. People start realising high resolution and gigantic downloads don't make a good game. The harsh limits of old systems can even increase the creativity in ways a modern system can't. There is a new genre coming, the "Fantasy computer". For example the TIC-80 (https://tic.computer/). They often come as a dev-system where you make everything, all programmed inside the emulator. With grafic editor, map editor, music, sound and ofcourse code. Fun to play around with to see if a concept works and then fire up GLBasic to make something proper out of it :-)

I totally agree with you, especially about creativity.
In addition you made me want to have fun again with emulators ;)

Really very interesting this tiny computer. It gives ideas.
